I have known the new functionality of ATMs but I did not trust it and was worried about if my check would get jammed or something wouldn't work. Today, there's a long line at the banking center so that I tried to use ATM to deposit a check for the first time.
Actually, it worked well. I was able to insert a check smoothly and it was not like inserting dollar bills on SF Muni bus. I'll use it next time for sure (if the amount is less than $1000 ;p)
Here's the receipt I got from the ATM today. You can see the image of a check on this small piece of paper.
It was clearly "fixed".
A friendly reminder to all the fans of the The Dark Knight that the movie returns to theaters on Friday. Here is the official IMAX press release and worldwide locations:
San Francisco - AMC Loews Metreon 16 with IMAX
Awesome. If you haven't seen The Dark Knight in an IMAX theater, you should go on this Friday. It's a quite unique experience so that it's worth to watch the movie again even if you've already watched it.
Press "control" and slide 2 fingers on Trackpad. You can zoom in by moving 2 fingers up and zoom out by down. Yes, I'm using *old* MacBook so that I don't know about how to use *4 fingers* with the brick macbook. meh.
This time the issue was that my father's pc was running terribly slow. It's a Toshiba dynabook A8/420CME: Celeron 2GHz, 768MB RAM. To run Windows XP, it's not that bad spec. But it's a 2003 model so that hard disk drives was old enough to get sucked.
After some googling, I've found a hard disk drive cloning software: Acronis True Image 11 Home. It allows to create a bootable CD and clone an internal disk to an external USB disk. Fortunatelly, I just bought a 2.5 inch hard disk drive enclosure so that I made the bootable cdrom, connected a new 2.5 hdd and started cloning disk at midnight. Next morning, only thing I had to do was replacing the cloned disk to the internal disk. Viora!!
I know there're couple of ways to do the same thing without paying any money. But it's a too much hustle while my whole family is having peaceful new year holidays. So, next time when you visit your dad and mom house, don't forget to bring a USB disk enclosure and this useful CD.
